Sands China Introduces Four-Tier Baccarat Jackpot Across Cotai Casinos

Most online baccarat players are used to side bets that give them the chance to win fixed payouts when specific hands are dealt. However, Sands China has taken a slightly different approach at its Macau casinos by linking baccarat tables to a progressive jackpot worth millions of Hong Kong dollars.

The new four-tier jackpot launched on September 24 at several of the operator’s Cotai properties. Players can enter by placing a HKD200 side bet, with prizes ranging from fixed HKD8,000 and HKD16,000 to a top progressive jackpot that was already worth more than HKD15 million when the game was introduced.

How the Four Jackpot Levels Work

The jackpot is available on live baccarat tables and, as with other side bets, specific combinations of Player and Banker hands determine whether a prize is won.

The highest level is called the Grand jackpot. To trigger it, Player must beat Banker seven points to six, with six cards dealt in total. However, the suits are equally important. Every card in the Player hand must be a diamond, while every Banker card must be a spade. Unsurprisingly, this is an extremely specific and rare result, but if it happens, the player wins the top progressive prize.

The Major prize uses a slightly less restrictive version of the same result. The Player must again win seven to six with six cards dealt, but the Player cards can all be either hearts or diamonds, while the Banker cards can all be either clubs or spades. This pays 5% of the progressive jackpot prize pool.

The two smaller prizes are fixed rather than progressive. A Minor win pays HKD16,000 and requires the Player to beat the Banker seven to six using four or five cards in total. All Player cards must be red and all Banker cards black. The Mini prize pays HKD8,000. This is triggered when all Player cards are red, and all Banker cards are black during a six-card hand, regardless of which side actually wins.

Available Across Sands China’s Cotai Properties

The HKD200 jackpot side bet is now available at several Sands China casinos on the Cotai Strip, including the Mass Red Dragon Game Zone and high-limit baccarat area at The Venetian Macao, as well as at The Plaza casino, the high-limit area of The Parisian Macao, and both the Londoner Casino and Londoner Grand Casino.

The jackpot has been added to the operator’s smart baccarat tables alongside several existing side bets, including Lucky Six, Small/Big Six, Lucky 7 and Super Lucky 7. These types of bets have become an increasingly important part of baccarat in Macau, giving players more options beyond simply betting on Banker, Player or Tie.

The HKD200 jackpot wager is also quite small compared with many of the main baccarat bets at these properties. Around the time of the launch, minimum main-game bets were generally between HKD1,000 and HKD2,000 on mass floors and HKD2,000 to HKD3,000 in high-limit areas. Most side bets were priced at HKD200 or HKD300.

Progressive Jackpots Are Becoming Part of Macau Baccarat

Progressive jackpots are far more commonly associated with slot machines than baccarat. However, Sands China has experimented with the idea before. In July 2025, the operator introduced a two-tier progressive jackpot linked to Lucky 6 and Lucky 7 side bets at its premium and mass-market tables, and it was available until March 2026.

The new four-tier game is potentially far more exciting for players, particularly because the top prize can grow into the millions and is linked across several Cotai properties. It also shows how baccarat operators are looking for ways to add more variety to a game whose basic rules have changed very little. For baccarat players in Macau, the main game will not change, but by spending just a little bit more, they have a chance of winning an enormous prize.
